10.3. Track Mute
If you'd like to silence the output of one of the tracks, hold the Shift button and press one of
the TRACK SELECT buttons. When a track is muted, the LED under its TRACK SELECT button
is dark.
The muting scheme might seem strange at first, but here's how it works:
• The Pitch and Gate tracks are linked, so when one is muted, the other will be
muted too.
• The Pitch and Gate tracks will be muted when muting tracks 3 or 4, if the track
being muted is set to the Velo or Pressure type.
• The Pitch and Gate tracks will NOT be muted when muting tracks 3 or 4, if the
track being muted is set to the Pitch, Gate, xV, Env, or LFO type.
10.4. Independent Timing divisions
You can choose the Time Division of the Pitch/Gate track, track 3, and track 4 separately.
• Hold Shift and press one of the pads 5 through 8 (E-G) to set the Time Division to
1/4, 1/8, 1/16 (default), or 1/32.
• The active resolution will have a lit pad. The other three Time Division pads will
be unlit.
• When track 3 is in Velo mode or track 4 is in Pressure mode, the resolution is
shared with the Pitch track.
10.5. Editing in real-time
10.5.1. Erase record
We covered methods for
patterns in the previous chapter; here we will
describe how to erase steps within a pattern while recording in real time.
When you were a bit sloppy while recording and then you hear a step or two you'd like to
get rid of, you can do a "spot erase" on your track to clean it up.
The process is fairly simple:
• Enter real-time record mode by holding Record and pressing Play. The
sequencer will start.
• You may want to enable the metronome (Shift + Sync) to help with accuracy.
• When you hear a step or two you'd like to get rid of, then the next time the pattern
loops, hold the Erase button VERY BRIEFLY at the offending moment. This will
erase the content of any steps that had been playing during the time the Erase
button was being pressed.
10.5.2. Step encoders: Stopped or playing
The Step encoders can be used for a number of purposes outside of Step mode.
• Stop mode: The Step encoders can
adjust the primary and secondary functions
for the selected track. If the track type = Pitch, you will hear notes as you
turn the encoders. This helps you set the notes for the pads and the Arpeggiator.
• Play mode: The Step encoders can
adjust the primary and secondary functions
for the selected track, but you won't hear any notes if the track type = Pitch.
