Pulling Traction:
Gross Traction:
Gross traction may be obtained by unlocking the Carriage on the Operative
Spar (Fig 24) and pulling distally using the handles on the side of the Carriage.
Once sufficient gross traction has been obtained, the Carriage should be
locked in place.
In order to maintain proper angular orientation of the patient’s pelvis, counter-
traction may be applied to the non-operative leg by unlocking the Well Leg
Spar Carriage and pulling distally to apply appropriate counter-traction.
Fine Traction:
Additional distraction of the operative leg may be achieved by turning the
knob of the Teletrac to achieve additional fine traction of the operative leg.
While turning the Teletrac knob, the Spar should be supported to minimize
system bounce.

locked and unlocked positions

fine traction
