Careful storage of the Hip Distraction System can help prolong its life. It is
recommended that the system be stored in the optional HDS Cart (AR-6529-13). The
Cart features locations for each component to secure and protect them and make
transportation easier. See System Storage Identification representation (Page 10)
3.4.2 Removal Instruction:
Perineal Post & Pad:
If the Post & Pad have not been removed during the operative procedures, remove
them at the end of the procedure by pressing the release button on the Collar and
pressing the Collar down. Pivot the Post away from the table to disengage from the
Patient Platform. The Post Pad may be removed to facilitate this.
Dispose of the disposable Cover. Clean the reusable pad and post as directed in the
following section and store in a safe location, preferably the designated location on
the HDS Storage Cart.
Traction Boots:
Ensure that the Teletrac ball joint lock is locked. Remove the boots by pressing on the
white release button on the bottom of the quick disconnect mount and lifting the
boot. Clean as directed in the Traction Boot instructions for use.
Spars:
Unlock the Carriages on both Spars and advance so they are ~25 cm (10 in) from
the proximal end of the Spar and lock in place.
Actuate the AB/Adduction joint on the Operative Spar and pivot so that the Spar is
in line with the OR Table. Repeat with the Well Leg Spar.
Unlock the Operative Spar from the Patient Platform by fully loosening the Locking
Knob on the lateral side of the spar mount. Remove the Spar by pivoting the spar
superiorly and pulling distally to disengage from Mounting Pin in the Patient Platform.
Clean as directed in the following section and store in a safe location, preferably the
designated location on the HDS Storage Cart.
Unlock the Well Leg Spar from the Well Leg Adapter by fully loosening the distal
Locking Knob on the Adapter. Remove the Spar by pivoting the spar superiorly and
pulling distally to disengage from the Well Leg Adapter. Clean as directed in the
following section and store in a safe location, preferably the designated location on
the HDS Storage Cart.
Well Leg Adapter:
Unlock the Well Leg Adapter from the Table Clamp by fully loosening the proximal
Locking Knob on the Adapter. Pivoting the Adapter superiorly and pull distally to
disengage from the Clamp. Clean as directed in the following section and store in a
safe location, preferably the designated location on the HDS Storage Cart.
