5. Position the engine alignment tool onto the crank-
shaft and install over the driven shaft on the drop-
case. Forcing the tool onto the driven shaft may be
necessary.

6. Leaving the engine alignment tool in position,
tighten the four lock nuts securing the engine to the
chassis to 20 ft-lb.
7. Tighten the cap screws and washers securing the
torque bumper assembly to the engine. Tighten to 16
ft-lb.
8. Install the four mounting cap screw plugs in the front
end.
9. Install the engine alignment tool onto the crankshaft
again and install over the driven shaft. Adjust the
torque bumper nuts until the tool falls onto the driven
shaft under its own weight. Tighten the torque
bumper nuts to 30 ft-lb.
10. Thread the recoil starter rope through the bushing in
the steering support and the handle; then tie a knot at
the end of the rope and pull the handle up and onto
the knot.
11. Untie the slip-knot at the starter case and allow it to
slowly rewind into the case.
12. Position the tie rods on the steering post; then secure
using the existing cap screws, washers, and lock nuts
(threads coated with blue Loctite #243). Tighten to
20 ft-lb.
13. Position the bearings on each side of the steering
post; then secure the steering post to the chassis
using the existing cap screws, retainer, and lock nuts.
Tighten to 96 in.-lb.

 NOTE: Make sure the ground wire is routed so it
does not come in contact with the steering post when
turning the steering post.

14. Place the upper steering post bearings into position
on the steering post and support; then secure with the
bearing retainer, cap screws, and lock nuts. Tighten
to 96 in.-lb.

15. Position the throttle cable in the bracket; then con-
nect the cable to the throttle lever. Tighten the adjust-
ment jam nuts securely.
