Chapter 1 – Getting Started
This chapter provides an overview of the W2642A and its role in supporting DisplayPort test automation with
Agilent test instruments.
DisplayPort Test Automation
Agilent Technologies and Quantum Data have partnered to provide a full solution for DisplayPort compliance
testing. Agilent’s AUX Channel Controller has been incorporated into the 882E product (offered as the W2642A
by Agilent) for purposes of supporting physical layer test automation for the DisplayPort main link using Agilent
equipment. Incorporating the AUX Channel Controller into the Quantum Data 882E product enables customers to
have a complete solution for compliance testing: physical layer testing for the main link, link layer compliance
testing (offered as an option to the 882E) and HDCP compliance testing (also offered as an option to the 882E).
A key contribution of the DisplayPort specification is the potential to fully automate testing of transmitters,
receivers, and branch devices (at the physical and link layer) through AUX channel control of the device under
test. The overall objective of the AUX Channel Controller is to support the test needs of DisplayPort
manufacturers and ensure that they can get the complete set of design validation and compliance test tools
essential for DisplayPort product development.
Additional Compliance Options
You can add the link layer and HDCP compliance test options to your W2642A by contacting your Quantum Data
distributor. Refer to “
Chapter 5 - Application Extensions ” on page 32 for more details on these options. The
instructions provided in this Quick Start Guide pertain specifically to the use of the W2642A (882E-DP) as a
DisplayPort AUXiliary Channel Controller. Instructions for operating the additional application options for the
W2642A (882E-DP) can be found in the User Guide which is available on the downloads page of the Quantum
Data website:
