AUXiliary Channel Analyzer
The DisplayPort interface uses the AUXiliary channel for link training and HDCP as well as I2C emulation for
EDID reads. You can monitor the AUXiliary channel while the 882E is emulating a DisplayPort device or you can
monitor the AUXiliary channel passively between two DisplayPort devices. In the first case, the 882E can emulate
a DisplayPort source to monitor its AUX channel transactions with a DisplayPort sink device under test. Or you
can have the 882E emulate a DisplayPort sink device to monitor its AUXiliary channel transactions with a
DisplayPort source device under test. For passive monitoring you connect two DisplayPort devices, a source
device and a sink device, through the 882E and monitor the AUXiliary channel transactions between the two
devices passively. The illustration below depicts the setup for monitoring the link layer transactions during testing
of a DisplayPort sink:
