Chapter 1 - Testing DisplayPort Sources
Chapter 2 – Testing DisplayPort Sources
This chapter describes the test setup for testing DisplayPort source devices. Testing the physical layer of a
DisplayPort source device requires the Agilent U7232A DisplayPort Source Compliance Test Software and the
Series DSO/DSA90000A Infiniium Oscilloscope. If the software was purchased with the Series DSO/DSA90000A
Oscilloscope, this software should be pre-installed on the oscilloscope. If you need to download new software for
the DSO/DSA90000A Oscilloscope, you can do so at the following web page:

What you will need
You will need the following items for the test.

Software

W2641A DisplayPort Test Point Access Adapter

W2642A AUX Channel Controller
ƒ
Miscellaneous W2642A accessories:
- Ethernet cross over cable
- DisplayPort cable (2 meter)
- Adaptor Board (p/n 99-00607)
Test workflow
Testing a DisplayPort source device involves the following high level steps:
1. Assemble all the test instruments, devices and equipment to test in your laboratory.
2. Complete the physical test setup in accordance with the test setup diagram (Figure 2-1) below.
3. Configure the Adaptor Board (p/n 99-00607) for testing a DisplayPort source (See Figure 2-2).
4. Enable the AUX Channel Control function in the W2642A (See Enabling the ACC function below). Note that
this can also be accomplished with the W2642A GUI.
5. (Recommended) Configure W2642A with valid EDID and DPCD data (See Reading and writing an EDID
and Reading and writing DPCD registers in Chapter 4 below.
6. Turn on the DSO/DSA90000A Oscilloscope and launch Agilent U7232A DisplayPort Source Compliance
Test Software using the oscilloscopes Analyzer menu.
7. Enter test setup details in the Setup tab of the U7232A DisplayPort Source Compliance Software, ensuring
selection of the W2642A in the Fixture Selection field.
