Lab #19: Decoding, Triggering, and Searching on LIN Serial Bus Signals
In this lab you will learn how to set up the scope to decode and trigger on
a LIN serial bus signal. In addition, you will learn how to use the scope’s
automatic LIN Search & Navigation capability, as well as Segmented
Memory acquisition. This lab does not provide a tutorial on the LIN
protocol and signaling, which is primarily used in automotive applications.
To complete this lab, your scope must be licensed with the CAN/LIN
trigger and decode option (Option AUTO). You can verify the installed
options on your oscilloscope at
[Help] > About Oscilloscope

Connect the channel- 1 probe to the Demo 1 terminal and ground.

Press
[Default Setup]
on the scope’s front panel.

Press
[Help]
; then press the
Training Signals
softkey.

Using the Entry knob, select the
LIN
signal; then press the
Output
softkey to turn it on.

Set channel- 1 to
500.0 mV/div
.

Set channel- 1’s offset/position to
+1.4 V

Push the trigger level knob to automatically set the trigger level to
approximately
50%
.

Set the scope’s timebase to
1.00 ms/div
.
