S Serial Bus Signals
In this lab you will learn how to set up the scope to decode and trigger on
the I
2
S (audio) serial bus traffic. In addition, you will learn how to use the
scope’s automatic I
2
S Search & Navigation capability, as well as Segmented
Memory acquisition. This lab does not provide a tutorial on the I
2
S
protocol and signaling. To complete this lab, your scope must be licensed
with the I
2
S trigger and decode option (Option AUDIO), as well as the
MSO option. You can verify the installed options on your oscilloscope at
[Help] > About Oscilloscope
.

Press
[Default Setup]
on the scope’s front panel.

Press
[Help]
; then press the
Training Signals
softkey.

Using the Entry knob, select the
I
2
S
signal; then press the
Output
softkey
to turn it on.

Press the
[1]
front panel key two times to turn off channel- 1.

Press the
[Digital]
front panel key to turn on the digital channels of
acquisition.

Press the
Turn off D7-D0
softkey to turn off the lower 8 digital channels.

Press the
Turn off D15-D9
softkey to turn off the upper 8 digital channels.

Press the
Channel
softkey.

Turn the Entry knob to point to
D9
; then push the Entry knob to turn
on D9.

Repeat Step #9 to also turn on D8 and D7.

Set the scope’s timebase to
500.0 µs/div
