5. In “Boot Features,” near the bottom, click the selection for “MPS.”
6. For XP, MPS should be set at 1.4. Hit <ENTER> and select 1.4
7. Hit <ESC> to continue to the next step.
BIOS Configuration for NT4 Installation Workaround
8. Once in "Setup Utility", go to the “Advanced” tab.
9. In the "Advanced” tab, select "Boot Features"
10. In “Boot Features,” near the bottom, click on the selection for “NT4 Installation
Workaround.”
11. For Windows XP systems, this should be disabled. Hit <ENTER> and select
disabled.
12. Hit <ESC> to continue on to the next setup
BIOS Configuration for Hyper Threading
13. Once in "Setup Utility", go to the “Advanced” tab.
14. In the "Advanced” tab, select "Advanced Processor Options"
15. In “Advanced Processor Options,” near the bottom, click on the selection for
“Hyper-Threading Technology.”
16. For XP systems, Hyper-Threading should be enabled. Press <ENTER> and select
“enabled.”
17. Press <F10> to save and exit. Select Yes and press <ENTER> to the Setup
Confirmation window to save the configuration changes and exit.
18. The system will automatically reboot and you are complete.
Note:
Upon rebooting the 5DX, the system may have a core dump with a blue screen. Reboot to continue on to the BIOS
Change Procedure KBC Clock Input steps (step 19) or just continue on to the next section -- Install the CD Drive.
Keyboard Clock Speed Change – Not Required
Note:
For some 5DX systems with a 2.8 Ghz IPC controller, the keyboard becomes unresponsive. This occurs on systems
with new keyboards, optical mouse and hand held bar code reader setup. The following describes how to change the
clock speed to eliminate the keyboard lockup these systems may experience. This is recommended for those systems,
which are experiencing this issue. If the system is running without any problems, please leave this BIOS configuration
the same.
BIOS Change Procedure KBC Clock Input
19. This step should only be completed if on boot up, the keyboard does not
communicate to the controller.
20. Once in "Setup Utility", go to the “Advanced” tab.
