2.8.1.2 Meter Cover Tamper Detection
The SGM3000 Series meter cover assembly has a mechanism to detect when the meter cover
has been physically removed from the meter.
Terminal Cover
The SGM3000 Series meters have a cover for the terminal section to protect the conductors
from external contact. The terminal cover is made of thermally stable plastic material that is UV
protected. The terminal cover is opaque to discourage tampering by preventing a view of the
conductors and connections under the terminal cover.

terminal cover has been physically removed from the meter.
2.8.2.1 Terminal Cover Screws and Seals
The terminal cover is affixed to the housing and supports physical seals, typically mandated as
wires thread through the fixing screws. The terminal covers for SGM3000 Series meters are
affixed to the housing using two screws. The screw head(s) has a recessed hole and slot to
accommodate a 2 mm diameter thread wire or plastic seal. The sealing wire is crimped close to
the body of the meter using a tool with die indents.
