4.9 Boost Capability
The SGM3000 Series meters that have auxiliary load control relays support boost functionality
where a physical button on the meter can be pressed to reconnect the load control relay for a
short period of time, if permitted by the utility. The boost functionality can be disabled or
disabled.
When the boost functionality is activated by pressing the physical boost button, the meter will
reconnect the auxiliary load control relays for a predefined period of time. The boost
functionality will occur immediately when the boost button is pressed; there is no
randomization applicable for the boost functionality.
Boost Primacy
The SGM3000 Series meters support enabling of a boost primacy mode where the boost
functionality takes higher priority than under normal conditions.
4.10 Randomization
The SGM3000 Series meters support the configuration of a random delay before the load
control relays are opened or closed to avoid large numbers of meters connecting their load
relays simultaneously. Configuration settings for the randomization will be treated separately
for relay opening and relay closing. When randomization is enabled, the relay will not
open/close until a random time period has elapsed, constrained between the defined minimum
and maximum delay values. The randomization will occur between a predefined minimum
delay and maximum delay.
The minimum delay must be less than or equal to the maximum delay.
The randomization will follow a uniform distribution between the minimum and maximum
delay periods. Application of randomization to load control activities will be customisable per
load control event.
Randomization can be enabled for the following:
•
Load control relay disconnection
•
Load control relay reconnection
•
Load control relay disconnection based on a primary group override message
•
Load control relay reconnection based on a primary group override message
•
Load control relay disconnection based on a secondary group override message
•
Load control relay reconnection based on a secondary group override message
•
Load control relay disconnection based on a tertiary group override message
•
Load control relay reconnection based on a tertiary group override message
•
Load control relay disconnection based on a meter receiving an individual override message
