5 Carefully remove the hex nut which secures the hex shaft to the snow thrower
frame and lightly tap the shaft’s end to dislodge the ball bearing from the right side
of the frame. Be careful not to damage the threads on the shaft.
Remove the other bearing from the left side of the frame by removing the snap ring.
Carefully position the hex shaft downward and to the left before carefully sliding the
friction wheel assembly off the shaft.
Friction wheel replacement with rubber crawler drive
With a model with the rubber crawler drive, remove the other ball bearing from the left
side of the frame by removing the hexagonal bolt and the washer.
Carefully move the hexagonal shaft down and to the left before you slide the friction
wheel unit carefully off of the shaft.
Follow the steps above in reverse order in order to reassemble the unit.
