Frequently Asked Questions
Ź
What type of keg coupler is included with the Zephyr tap kit?
Ź
Zephyr kegeratures include a “D” style coupler which is the most common coupler used on
North American beers.
Ź
What temperature should I set my kegerator at?
Ź
This depends on the style of beer. Lighter-bodied beers should be served between 34ºF and
38ºF whereas heavier and darker beers are typically better served around 40ºF and 44ºF
degrees. However, this all depends on your pallet as some people prefer their beers cold
and some prefer them warmer.
Ź
How long does it take for a new beer keg to reach the desired temperature?
Ź
There are many factors that determine this, such as if the keg was kept cold. We
recommend letting the beer keg sit in the kegerator for up to 24 hours. Not only does this
allow the keg to get to temperature, but it also gives it time to settle and reduce foaming
issues.
Ź
How long will beer remain fresh in a keg?
Ź
Typically, 20 - 120 days depending on the type of beer and if it is stored at the proper
temperature.
Ź
IPA’s and other “hoppy” beers only last a few weeks while light-bodied beers can last for a
few months.
Ź
How many beers are in a keg?
Ź
Six barrel keg - 5.16gal, 55 12-oz beers
Ź
Quarter barrel keg - 7.75 gal, 82 12-oz beers
Ź
Half barrel keg - 15.5 gal, 165 12-oz beers
Ź

Ź
Six barrel keg - 13 to 16 kegs
Ź
Quarter barrel keg - 9 to 11 kegs
Ź
Half barrel keg - 5 to 6 kegs
Ź
How often should I clean the beer lines?

Ź
How do I troubleshoot CO
₂

1. Pressurize the regulator to isolate the leak by turning the CO₂ tank valve counterclockwise
to turn on the tank.
