Cabling
The internal interface cable that supports floppy disk drives has
both a center and an end-of-cable connector. Floppy disk drive A
will always be located at the end of the floppy signal cable.
Floppy disk drive B will be located at the center of the interface
cable. Do not install or attempt to operate a floppy disk drive
connected to the center of the interface cable without first
connecting a floppy disk drive to the end-of-cable connector.
Drive Bay Selection
The standard floppy disk drive (normally designated Drive A)
will always be located in peripheral bay A. The recommended
drive bay location for the optional second floppy disk drive
(normally designated Drive B) is peripheral bay B. The upper
peripheral bay assignments are:
BAY
DEVICE
A
1.44M Floppy Disk Drive (Drive A)
(Always installed)
B
1.2M Floppy Disk Drive (Drive B)
1.44M Floppy Disk Drive (Drive B)
CD ROM (SCSI address 5)
C
525M Tape (SCSI address 2)
DAT (SCSI address 6)
CD ROM (SCSI address 5 - alternate location if floppy disk
drive is in Bay B)
Handling a Floppy Disk
Preserve floppy disks by following these guidelines:
Keep floppy disks away from magnetic fields.
Do not put heavy objects on floppy disks.
Store floppy disks in a temperature range of 10 to 51C (50 to 125F).
You can stick a temporary label on a floppy disk. Use this label to identify
the contents of the disk. Peel off and replace the temporary label as often
as necessary; do not place new labels on top of old ones.
