Measuring
T
emperatures
When measuring temperatures with Thermo-Collector, it is necessary to use an
appropriate input channel and probe. By combining these items in different ways,
it is possible to measure the temperature of various objects. The temperature of
the surface and center of a solid, and various types of liquids can be measured.
For example, the “C” input channel (built-in sensor of the main unit) is used to
measure the ambient air temperature. To measure the temperature at the center
of a hamburger, connect a needle-type standard probe to the “A” measuring chan-
nel. To measure the surface temperature of a steel plate, connect a non-contact
thermo probe to the “D” input channel.
The following table shows the available probe types, their corresponding input
channels, and the positions of connection jacks.

Warning
Do not point the tip of a needle-type thermo probe towards somebody. The needle tip
is very sharp and can cause injury.
Caution
• Handle the needle-type thermo probe carefully so that its stylus is only put into the
intended measuring object.
• Do not use this instrument in a location where it may be splashed or dropped in
water, otherwise it may malfunction.
