Setting the YAMAHA OPL4 Driver
To use wave data (read by SampleEdit) to produce sound (for example by using the
MIDI soft keyboard or a sequencer), you must select RAM as the sound generator in the
OPL4 Drive Panel window.
1.
In the toolbar of the SampleEdit window, click the OPL4 Driver button [
]. The
OPL4 Drive Panel window appears. You can also open the OPL4 Drive Panel window
from the Control Panel in the Main window in Windows. (See page 14.)

If the toolbar is not displayed, click [View] in the menubar then [Tool bar] from the pulldown menu. The
toolbar appears.

Click each [RAM] box to select RAM as the tone generator for each MIDI channel (channels
1 to 16). If necessary, select [ROM] (AWM wave table) or the FM tone generator. Also, if
necessary, adjust the volume levels between ROM and FM.

After finishing the settings, click [OK] to apply the settings or click [Cancel] to cancel the
settings.

ALL ON/OFF:
Lets you simultaneously set all the
MIDI channels within the same tone generator to
ON or OFF.

Balance:
Lets you adjust the volume balance
between tone generators [PCM (ROM/RAM) and
FM].

Wave Boost:
Lets you increase the volume of the
melody part (=8db) and the rhythm part (=10db).

Auto Reset:
Lets you reset the MIDI information
each time a sequencer, such as a media player,
stops or pauses.

Fast Damp:
Cuts off the last part of a MIDI note
and sounds the following note. You should choose
this when the “note-on” and “note-off” functions are
likely to be interrupted (for example, on a computer
with a slow CPU).
