CHECKING THE SPARK PLUG

1. Remove:

• right side panel

Refer to “SEAT AND SIDE PANELS”.

2. Disconnect:

• spark plug cap

3. Remove:

• spark plug

4. Check:

• spark plug type

Incorrect

→

Change.

Standard spark plug

CR8E/NGK

5. Check:

• electrode

Wear/damage

→

Replace.

• insulator

Abnormal color

→

Replace.

Normal color is a medium-to-light tan color.

6. Clean:

• spark plug

(with a spark plug cleaner or wire brush)

7. Measure:

• spark plug gap

Use a wire gauge or thickness gauge.
Out of specification

→

Regap.

8. Tighten:

• spark plug

NOTE:

Before installing a spark plug, clean the gasket
surface and plug surface.

9. Connect:

• spark plug cap

10.Install:

• right side panel

Refer to “SEAT AND SIDE PANELS”.
