Chapter 3: Using the Control Panel

The Keys

The Control Panel keypad consists of eight keys, identified with
international symbols and/or labeled in English. The keys are also
numbered 0 - 7.

Table 3.2 describes the function of each key.

Table 3.2

Control Panel keys and their functions

Key

Description

On Line

Toggles between online and offline.

When online, the printer is able to receive and print pages. When offline, all pages currently
formatted and delivered are printed. No new pages are formatted and printing pauses until the
printer is placed online.

The printer goes offline automatically when it has a fault condition such as a paper jam or an open
cover.

Pressing On Line

under the following conditions results in the actions stated:

• If the printer is online and in the Menu system, the printer remains online and an exit from the

Menu system takes place.

• If the printer is offline and not in the Menu system, the printer switches to online as long as

operator intervention is not required. The printer remains offline if operator intervention is
required.

• If the printer is offline and in the Menu system, the printer switches to online and exits the

Menu system as long as operator intervention is not required. The printer remains offline if
operator intervention is required.

• If in the Password Menu, and the display indicates

E n t e r P a s s w o r d

, pressing this

key causes a password digit “0” to be entered.

The printer comes online automatically after one minute of inactivity in the Menu system.
