Safety Instructions
Operating Times
Operation
•
Tragic accidents may occur if the operator does not pay attention to the presence of children. Both a Trac and mowing have an attracting effect
on children. You must not by any means assume that children remain where you last saw them.
•
Keep children out of the working zone. Another adult has to supervise any children.
•
Remain watchful and turn off the machine if any children enter the working zone.
•
Before driving in reverse and while driving in reverse, look to the rear and downwards so that you will be able to see any small children.
•
Never let children ride along with you. They could fall off and injure themselves severely or hinder safe operation of the machine.
•
Reduce the dangers of fire. Keep the engine away from grass, leaves or other accumulations. Wipe away any oil or petrol spilt. Let the engine
cool down before putting the machine away.
•
Do not make any adjustments or repairs while the engine is running.
•
If any of the components of the grass-catcher wear out, get damaged or deteriorate, this might result in the moving parts becoming exposed and
objects being flung out. Check these components regularly and replace them if necessary by parts made by the manufacturer.
•
The Trac‘s blades are sharp and will cause cuts. Before carrying out maintenance and repairs, wrap them up and work with gloves. Be especially
careful when carrying out service.
•
Check the functionality of the brakes frequently. If necessary, adjust and carry out maintenance on them.
Driving on Slopes
Slopes are a great risk factor. They cause loss of control and tipping over, which can result in severe injuries and death. All slopes require special
caution. If you cannot drive in reverse up a slope or do not feel safe doing so, do not mow the slope.
This is What You Should Do:
•
Mow slopes upwards and downwards, but never crosswise.
•
Remove any rocks, tree trunks, etc.
•
Be on the lookout for holes, ruts and bumps. The machine might topple over on uneven terrain. High grass can conceal obstacles.
•
Drive slowly. Select a slow gear so that you will not have to stop on the slope to change gears.
•
Work with grass-catchers and other attachments especially carefully. They can change the stability of the machine.
•
On slopes, be sure to only carry out movements slowly and gradually. Do not make any sudden changes in speed or direction.
•
You must avoid starting and stopping on slopes. If a tyre loses traction, turn off the blades and drive straight down the hill slowly.
This is What You Should NOT Do:
•
Except when it is really necessary, you must not turn on hills. If possible, always make turns slowly and gradually while driving downwards.
•
Do not work near cliffs, trenches or the banks of water bodies. If a wheel gets over the side of a descent, or if an edge should cave in, the Trac
might turnover suddenly.
•
Do not mow wet grass. The reduced traction might result in slipping.
•
Do not support the machine by propping up with your foot on the ground. Do not use grass-catcher on steep slopes.
•
Children must never operate the machine.
•
Special caution is required when you approach corners, bushes, trees or any other objects obstructing a good view.
•
Always tighten nuts and bolts well, especially the fastening bolts for the blades. This equipment has to be in the best of condition. Do not interfere
with any of the safety devices. Regular checks have to be made to be sure that they function well.
•
Do not change the setting of the engine regulator, and do not rev up the engine excessively.
Please check noise abatement regulations prevailing in your country.
Filling in Engine Oil (Fig. B1)
Important
Only fill the crankcase with SAE 30 or SAE 15W30 oil. Do not overfill, as this will only damage the engine. Before you start the
engine, first carefully read the Operating Instructions for the engine included in the delivery.
Filling in Fuel (Fig. B2)
Use lead-free regular petrol. The lowest recommended octane rating is 95. If the engine is operated with a rating lower than 95,
engine knock, as it is called, might occur. This would cause the temperature of the engine to rise, and the engine might fail.
Re-filling Fuel
Warning
Be sure that good ventilation is provided when re-filling.
1.
Stop the engine and let it cool down.
2.
Remove the lid to the tank carefully so that any excess pressure there might be can escape.
3.
After refilling, screw the lid to the tank back on tightly.
4.
Wipe clean the surface surrounding the lid to the tank. Clean the fuel tank regularly. Dirt in the tank can result in operational
problems.
For tanking up, use a regulation petrol container and a funnel. The maximum capacity of the fuel tank is approx. 7.0 l.
Danger
Be especially careful when dealing with fuels. They are easily inflammable, produce gases and are explosive. Before filling up, let
the engine cool down and do not smoke!
Only Store Fuel in Safety Containers!
A list of the recommended fuels and oils can be found in the Operating Instructions for the engine.
