Safety Instructions
-
The fact that when riding lawn mowers slide down a slope, it is not possible to control them by using the brake.
•
The most important reasons for uncontrollable handling are:
-
Insufficient grip by the wheels
-
Driving too fast
-
Not adapting one‘s braking
-
Lacking maintenance of the brake or of the accelerator
-
The Trac is not suited for the application
-
Lack of understanding of ground conditions, especially slopes
Preparatory Measures
•
Before mowing, be sure that no other people are in the working zone. Stop the machine if anyone enters the working area.
•
Before mowing, remove any foreign objects, such as rocks, pieces of wood, etc. from the lawn to be mown.
•
WARNING! Petrol is highly inflammable.
-
Only store fuel in containers approved for such.
-
Only tank up outdoors.
-
Do not smoke. No open flames!
-
Before starting the engine, fill with fuel (regular grad petrol).
-
Always close the lid to the tank tightly.
-
It is not allowed to refuel or open the lid to the tank while the engine is running or while the machine is hot.
-
If petrol has spilled over, you must not attempt to start the engine. Instead, remove the machine away from the area polluted with petrol. Avoid
any attempt at ignition until the petrol vapours have evaporated.
-
For safety reasons, replace the lid to the tank if it gets damaged.
-
Check the tank level before each use. Allow room for expansion, because the heat of the engine and/or radiation from the sun will cause the
fuel to expand and spill out of the tank.
-
Be especially careful when handling battery acid. On contact with the skin, acid causes severe burns. Contact with the eyes can result in blind-
ness.
•
Be especially careful when servicing the battery. Explosive gas is produced in the battery. Do not serve the battery near any source of sparks or
flames (do not smoke). This might cause the battery to explode and severe injuries.
•
Be sure that the seat of the Trac is always snapped into place correctly and bolted.
•
Check the Trac to be sure that the retaining components are tight.
•
When replacing the cutting tool, follow the instructions for mounting and only use parts made by the manufacturer.
•
Regularly check the grass-catcher for wear or loss of its functionality.
•
Before mowing, check all the retaining components of the grass-catcher.
•
Check the grass-catcher frequently for any wear.
•
Replace the exhaust silencer if it becomes defective.
•
Equipment with a four-cycle engine have to be provided with engine oil before being used the first time.
•
Before you mow each time, check the oil level.
Handling
•
The combustion engine must not be run in closed room in which dangerous carbon monoxide could accumulate.
•
Only mow during daylight or with good artificial lighting.
•
Pay attention to automobile traffic when you cross roads or when you work near a road.
•
When working near streets, take the road traffic into consideration.
•
It is prohibited to used this piece of equipment on public roads.
•
Never use the machine if the safety equipment is damaged or not attached.
•
Do not mow in reverse gear if possible. Before and while mowing in reverse gear, look downward and to the rear.
•
Do not forget the direction of discharge and do not point it toward any individuals.
•
Do not use Trac without the complete grass-catching sack and the impact guard.
•
Reduce speed before making U-turns.
•
Do not leave the machine unattended while it is running. Before getting off, always turn off the blades, set the parking brake, turn off the engine
and take out the key.
•
Turn off the blades when you are not mowing.
•
Turn off the engine before taking off the grass-catcher and before removing clogging on the ejection hole.
•
Do not use the machine after consuming alcohol or medicines.
•
When mowing around fixed objects, proceed carefully such that the blades to not hit them. Do not intentionally drive over any foreign objects.
•
Be especially careful when loading or unloading the machine onto or off of a truck or trailer.
•
Proceed carefully when pulling loads.
-
Only use the approved hitching points.
-
Restrict loads to a weight you can safely control. Do not exceed the approved hauling load.
-
Do not make sudden turns. When driving in reverse, proceed carefully.
-
Use counterweight, wheel weights or tyre chains if the accessories‘ instructions for use prescribe such.
-
Find a level place to start the engine.
•
Do not touch the engine or exhaust silencer during or shortly after operation:
-
Hot parts can cause burns or provoke jumpy movements, which could result in accidents.
-
Always change the engine oil with the tank empty and closed and the engine warm.
•
Stop the cutting tools before crossing any other surfaces than grass.
•
When using attached equipment, be sure that no grass gets thrown in the direction of other individuals and that there are no individuals near you
while mowing.
•
Turn off both the blade and the engine before refuelling.
•
Before you leave the Trac:
-
Turn off the drive
-
Put it in idle
-
Turn off both the engine and the blade
-
Take out the ignition key
•
Turn off the engine, take out the ignition key and take off the spark plug connector:
-
Before you loosen any blocking or remove clogging in the ejection duct
-
Before you inspect, clean or carry out work on the machine
•
When a foreign object has been hit, check for any damage to the machine and have any necessary repairs done.
•
If the machine begins to vibrate unusually strongly, an immediately inspection is necessary.
