4-4 INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT OF
THE VARIABLE SPEED BELT
If vibrating sounds can be heard emanating from the variable speed pulley, the outer
metal cover should be removed and the variable speed pulley should be examined.
If the belt shows signs of wearing or splitting, it should be replaced as described
below:
1. Start up the caterpillar chain, turn the speed-changing handwheel to its
slowest position, and then switch off the power supply.
2. With the power turned off, rotate the speed-changing handwheel to its fastest
position.
3. Remove the old belt and replace it with a new ribbed belt of specification
"1922V403".
