l Magnetic agitator rod was left out, or the wrong
size was selected.
Insert (correct) magnetic agitator rod
(see chapter 2).
l The wrong program was selected.
You measured out the gold electrolyte for a
electroforming thickness of 0.2 mm (program 1),
but later selected program 2 (0.3 mm) with the
timer button.

The crown copings are too thin.
l There is dirt on the contacts.
Ensure that no dirt reaches the contact
surfaces.
l The copper rod did not form a good contact.
Ensure that the copper rod is inserted verti-
cally from above into the contact and that the
end of the copper rod is not covered by shrink-fit
tubing (leave approx. 1 cm free).
l The part was assigned too low a position when
correlating with the chart.
The surface determines the power level
required. Compare the part to be electroformed
closely with the reference samples in the com-
parison chart to ensure the most accurate selec-
tion of the power level.
l
The power levels were set too low.
The power levels are directly related to the
calculated gold electrolyte volume. Make a note of
the correct power level for each part, in order to
set them correctly before the process commences.
