WhitakerAudio

– Prepare two 9-inch long #16 black stranded wires. Attach quick-disconnect terminals on

each end of each the wire.

– Attach one end of the wire prepared in the previous step to the

AC-H2

post on the AM

tuner PWB. Attach the other end of the wire to the

RYL1

com

post. Note that the terminal

legend for the relay is given on the top side of the device. Insert the connector straight

down on the relay terminal. Do not bend the terminal as that may crack the housing.

– Attach the other 9-inch black wire prepared in the previous step to the

AC-H4

post on the

AM tuner PWB. Attach the other end of the wire to the

RYL1

post. Note that the

terminal legend for the relay is given on the top side of the device. Insert the connector

straight down on the relay terminal. Do not bend the terminal as that may crack the

housing

– Prepare two 8-inch long #22 white wires. Install quick-disconnect terminals on one end of

each wire. On the other end, install the miniature quick-disconnect connectors provided

with the relay. Note that these two connector types are not interchangeable. Twist the

wires together.

– Attach the white twisted pair miniature connectors to the mating “coil” posts on RYL1.

Attach the standard-size connectors to the

RYL1

posts on the AM tuner PWB. The wires

can go to either post.

Examine tuning capacitor C3. There are three sets of plates. The set closest to the AM tuner

PWB is C3

. Note also there are connections on each side of the device. In the following steps,

connections will be made to the side facing the tuning indicator tube, V6.

– Prepare a 1-inch long #22 yellow wire. Connect one end to

C3a

. Solder. Connect the other

end to the

C3a

pad on the AM tuner PWB. Solder.

– Prepare a 1-inch long #22 yellow wire. Connect one end to the C3 terminal on the set of

plates closest to the front panel; this is

C3b

. Solder. Connect the other end to the

C3b

pad

on the AM tuner PWB. Solder.

– Prepare a 1-inch long #22 yellow wire. Connect one end to the C3 terminal on the set of

plates in the middle of the device; this is

C3c

. Solder. Connect the other end to the

C3c

pad on the AM tuner PWB. Solder.
