WhitakerAudio

– Connect 5Vb – 5 V heater. Find the other

yellow

lead from the power transformer. Install

a connector to the wire. Attach to the

5Vb

post on the AM tuner PWB.

– Connect 5Vct – 5V heater center tap. Find the

yellow/black

lead from the power

transformer. Install a connector to the wire. Attach to the

5Vct

post on the AM tuner

PWB.

– Route the transformer shell ground wire to the ground lug on the corner of the AM tuner

PWB. Secure the wire to the lug. Do not solder.

Before proceeding with the following steps, recheck all connections from the power

transformer to the AM tuner PWB.

5.3.7.3 Choke Leads

In the following steps, trim the lead lengths so the wires will comfortably reach their respective

terminals. Use the red terminal connectors. After each terminal is attached to a lead, gently pull on

the wire and terminal to make sure a good crimp has been made.

– Connect L2in – choke in. Find one of the

black

wires from the power supply choke (L2).

Install a connector to the wire. Attach to the

L2in

post on the AM tuner PWB.

– Connect L2out – choke out. Find the other

black

wire from the power supply choke.

Install a connector to the wire. Attach to the

L2out

post on the AM tuner PWB.

– Route the choke shell ground wire to the ground lug on the corner of the AM tuner PWB.

Secure the wire to the lug. Do not solder.

Double check the connections from the choke to the AM tuner PWB.

5.3.8 AM Tuner PWB Auxiliary Connections

In the following steps, the pilot lamp, tuning indicator (Magic Eye), relay, and tuning capacitor

will be connected.

– Prepare a 6-inch long #22 white wire. Connect one end to one of the terminals on the front

panel pilot lamp, PL1. Solder.

– Prepare a 10-inch long #22 white wire. Connect one end to the free terminal on the front

panel pilot lamp, PL1. Solder.
