SIDEDRAW DISCHARGE OPENING LOCATION

1. USE A SIDE DRAW REINFORCING SHEET AS TEMPLATE TO MARK UP DISCHARGE OPENING AND

DRILL  13/32"  BOLT  HOLES (IF  APPLICABLE,  REFER  TO  NEXT  PAGE) OR,  CUT  THE  DISCHARGE
OPENING AS PER THE DIMENSIONS ABOVE FOR THE SIZE OF OUTLET USED. OUTLET OPENING
MUST BE CENTERED  VERTICALLY  ON  WALL SHEET  AND  HORIZONTALLY  BETWEEN  THE
UPRIGHTS.  BE  SURE  TO  ROUND  THE  CORNERS  WITH  A  MINIMUM  1-

1/2” (38mm) RADIUS AS

SHOWN. (SQUARE CORNERS MAY INITIATE CRACKING IN WALL SHEET)

DRILL 13/32” (10mm) BAFFLE MOUNTING HOLES 22” APART HORIZONTALLY AND ON 8” VERTICAL
CENTERS DOWN THE BIN WALL ON THE INSIDE CROWN OF THE CORRUGATION. THESE HOLES
MUST BE IN VERTICAL ALIGNMENT. INSTALL BAFFLE SECTIONS

WITH 3/8” GR8.2 BIN BOLTS.

REVERSE ANY  HORIZONTAL  SEAM  WALL SHEET BOLTS  THAT LINE  UP  WITH  THE  BAFFLES,  SO
THAT THE  BOLT  HEAD  IS  ON  THE  INSIDE  OF  THE  BIN.  TAKE  THE  SEALING  WASHER  OFF  THE
HEAD AND INSTALL IT BETWEEN THE OUTSIDE OF THE WALL SHEET AND THE NUT, TO MAINTAIN
THE  SEAL. FAILURE  TO  TURN  THE  BOLTS  AROUND  CAN  LEAD  TO  THEM INTERFERRING  WITH
THE BAFFLES AND DISTORTING THE WALL SHEETS.

3. ALIGN FLANGED OUTLET OPENING WITH BOTTOM OF WALL SHEET OPENING. HOLD OUTLET IN

PLACE AND DRILL 7/

16” (11mm) HOLES IN THE BIN WALL SHEETS TO MATCH OUTLET. ATTACH

FLANGED OUTLET WITH

3/8” GR8.2 BOLTS. (HOLES MAY NOT MATCH CORRUGATION EXACTLY).

USE CAULKING BETWEEN BIN WALL AND FLANGE OUTLET TO ENSURE CONNECTION IS
WEATHER TIGHT.

4. IF THE DISCHARGE OUTLET IS LOCATED WHERE TWO LAMINATED WALL SHEETS ARE USED, AN

ALTERNATIVE REINFORCING METHOD WILL BE REQUIRED. CONSULT WESTEEL ENGINEERING
FOR FURTHER DETAILS ON YOUR SPECIFIC APPLICATION.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT CUT OPENING THROUGH HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL WALL SEAMS

5.4. Discharge Opening Procedure

1. Use a side draw reinforcing sheet as a template to mark up the discharge opening and drill 13/32" bolt holes

(if applicable, refer to

Section 5.5. – Side Draw Reinforcing Sheet Installation (15’ — 54’ Bins) on page 29

)

2. Cut the discharge opening as per the dimensions for the size of outlet used. (See

Section 5.3. – Side Draw

Discharge Opening Location on page 28

The outlet opening must be centered vertically on the wall sheet and horizontally between the uprights.

3. Be sure to round the corners with a minimum 1-1/2" (38mm) radius as shown in

Section 5.3. – Side Draw

Discharge Opening Location on page 28

. (Square corners may initiate cracking in the wall sheet)

Important: Do not cut the opening through horizontal or vertical wall seams

4. Drill 13/32" (10mm) baffle mounting holes 22" apart horizontally and on 8" vertical centers down the bin

wall on the inside crown of the corrugation. These holes must be in vertical alignment.

5. Install baffle sections with 3/8" grade 8.2 bin bolts.

6. Reverse any horizontal seam wall sheet bolts that line up with the baffles, so that the bolt head is on the

inside of the bin.
