5.6.1.2
Flow cell
You can set the temperature of the detector oven in the range of 30 to 55 °C. The
detector will then try to achieve and maintain that temperature, using a resistive
heating element under software control. Actual temperature can differ from the
setpoint, particularly after making a change to the setpoint. The user interface
displays both setpoint and actual temperatures.
Under Empower or Alliance controller systems, the upper temperature limit is 50 °C.
5.6.1.3
External Column
The temperature of the column heater connected to the column heater module port
on the rear panel can be set in the range a5 to 150 °C. The 2414 RI detector,
which has access to the temperature sensor of the column heater module, will then
try to achieve and maintain the setpoint temperature, sending control signals to the
external hardware. Actual temperature can differ from the setpoint, particularly after
a change to the setpoint has been made. The user interface displays both set point
and actual temperatures.
5.6.1.4
Aux
An auxiliary output channel on the rear panel is controlled by the software. The signal
source for the channel is user programmable.
When the Detector Oven Temperature channel output type is selected, the channel
will output a 0- to 2-V signal on Auxiliary Output Channel that corresponds to:
AUX OUT = (1V / 100 °C)
When the Column Heater Module Temperature channel output type is selected, the
channel will output a 0- to 2-V signal on the Auxiliary Output Channel that
corresponds to:
AUX OUT = (1V / 100 °C)
The voltage offset setting shifts the auxiliary out from the analog output in a positive
or negative direction. It thus voids any offsets between the detector and a data
system. The offset is added after any polarity has been applied to the output (default
is 0 mV).
5.6.2 Operating the trace and scale functions
The Trace function allows you to display a trace for the last
n
minutes (up to 60) of
detector operation.
When you press the TRACE key, the detector displays the RIU acquired over the last
30 minutes by default. It updates the trace once every 20 seconds.
When you press the Scale key (Shift TRACE), the detector displays the scaled trace
with T1 (ending time) displayed (–30 for the last 30 minutes) by default.
You can change the ending time parameter to any number from 1 to 60. You can use
the Scale function to “zoom” in on a particular section of the trace.
