Quantum Manual
Support for USB Storage Devices
All USB storage devices from a simple USB stick to a tera-
byte UDB SSD disk are supported provided that they adhe-
ring to the USB Mass Storage Device Standard.
The USB drives can be used in all scenarios where you
currently use SD cards like importing/exporting samples,
presets, patches, wavetables etc. as well as for updating
the system software. The only use case where you still
would need a SD card is doing a full system init as well as a
rescue boot from SD card.
Connect a USB drive to to the
USB Controller
port.
The following is supported:
•
Direct loading of samples from USB drive-
•
Updating the Iridium Keyboard’s operating system-
SD Card Slot
r
It is important to use a FAT or FAT32 file system
formatted SD card. Other file formats won´t work.
r
Please insert the SD Card
upside down
, i.e. with the
contacts showing to the upper side. This is due to
the mechanical construction of Quantum. Please in-
sert the card with normal force to avoid any damage.
A connected SD card allows:
•
Updating the Quantum’s operating
system. Read more in ‘The Global
Page’ chapter.
•
Importing and saving audio files.
•
Importing and saving Quantum-specific data – e.g.
sound patches, oscillator presets, wavetables, MIDI
Maps, etc.
MIDI In/Thru/Out Jacks
Although we can hardly belie-
ve it, the Quantum might not
be enough for some people,
so we added an elegant way
to control external sound mo-
dules with the Quantum keyboard: just connect the DIN
MIDI out
(or USB Controller port)
to your external gear
and play. For use with a computer we recommend the
Computer USB
port.
r
Read more about the configuration of the MIDI ports
in ‘The Global Menu’
chapter.
