Removing the Rotor

Prerequisites

Oil filter wrench

Procedure

Follow the procedure below to remove the rotor.

1. Disconnect the spark plug.

2. Remove the stator. See section 

Removing the Stator

.

3. Loosen the long bolt 

(a) 

that secures the rotor to the engine. To prevent the 

rotor from spinning, secure the rotor with an oil filter wrench when removing the 
long bolt.

4. Support the rotor with one hand then strike the rotor with a rubber hammer 

repeatedly while rotating the rotor until it comes free of the engine shaft.

NOTICE:  

Do not strike the winding wires or the magnet 

(c)

. Damage to the rotor 

may occur.

5. Remove the long bolt and the rotor from the engine. 

The procedure to remove the rotor is now complete.
