Checking the Excitation Winding

Prerequisites

Generator shut down

Multimeter

Procedure

Follow the procedure below to check the excitation winding.

1. Remove the end cap

(a)

from the generator.

2. Disconnect the plug

(b)

which connects the excitation winding to the Automatic

Voltage Regulator (AVR).

3. Measure the resistance of the excitation winding by measuring across the two

yellow (Y) wires of the connector.

Is the correct resistance measured for your model?

This procedure continues on the next page.
