Changing thread by knotting
Threading
8.8 Changing thread by knotting
If a spool is empty or should you wish to switch to a different type or colour
of thread, you can save yourself the effort involved in the threading process.
Prerequisite:
•
The presser foot is in the upper position (only then can the tension discs
be disengaged).
•
Fresh thread is ready for use.
Please proceed as follows:
1.
Cut the threads close to the spools.
2.
Place new spools on the spool stand.
3.
Tie the new threads to the old ones.
4.
Shorten the knot ends to a length of approx. 2 to 3 cm.
!
Do not cut the knot ends too short as the knot may otherwise come
apart.
5.
Check the strength of the knot by pulling both threads.
6.
Pull each thread through the thread guide paths individually.
?
Are you experiencing difficulties pulling one of the threads through?
Check whether a loop has formed under the spool stand or if the
thread as become tangled in the thread guide path.
►
Remove all loops.
7.
Pull the orange, blue and green threads only far enough for the knot to be
positioned in front of the eye of the needle. If possible, pull the brown
thread gently up to the lower looper. Then, cut it and re-thread it through
the hole of the lower looper.
8.
Cut off the thread with the knot and re-thread it through the eye of the
needle.
» All four threads have been changed by means of knotting
W6 tip
Cheap, poor-quality threads can cause trouble when sewing. We therefore
recommend using our tension-friendly and lint-free W6 thread available in
over 400 shades.
