• Switch the test object on.
• Press the button (3) to start the automatic test sequence for insulated test
objects.
• If “LO LOAD” appears on the display, check whether the test object has been
switched on.
• If the test object is on but the load is too low (R
L-N
> 6 kΩ), press the button (3)
to continue the test sequence.
• If “HIGH LOAD” appears on the display, it indicates an excessive load (R
L-N
< 14 Ω, I

> 16 A) from the test
object.
• There is a risk of short-circuit. Check for a short-circuit between the external conductor (L) and the neutral conduc-
tor (N) on the test object.
• If there is no short-circuit, you can continue with the test sequence by pressing the button (3).

is higher than the permissible limit value, a tick symbol appears next to the R
ISO
symbol.
Mains operation mode:
• The GT-6000 interrupts the test sequence after the R
ISO
measurement (insulation resistance) and prompts the user
to switch the mains voltage from 230 V to the test socket by means of a flashing “I
LEAK
” symbol.
• Ensure that the test object is switched off. Accidental start-up can lead to injuries and damage.
• Press the button (4) to measure the contact current ‘I
LEAK
’ (direct measurement method).
• Contact current measurement by means of the direct measurement method starts only once the mains voltage
has been properly established.
• Step 1 (of 2):
• After a measurement time of 5 seconds, the mains polarity is reversed and the
contact current is measured with reverse mains voltage (“L/N” - “N/L”). The high-
est measured value of both measurements is displayed.
• Step 2 (of 2):
• If the contact current is lower than the permissible limit value, an “A” appears
next to the I
LEAK
symbol.
• The overall test is considered passed when “PASS” is shown on the display.
Note for measuring the contact current in mains operation!
When measuring contact current using the direct measurement method, no part of the test object must be
connected to the earth potential. The test object must be placed on an insulated surface. Otherwise, there
is a risk of leakage currents to earth influencing the result of the measurement.
Note for measuring the insulation resistance for test objects of protection class 3:
Due to the preset limit value of 2 MΩ for test objects of protection class 2, the following must be observed
when testing devices of protection class 3:
Measured values between the limit values of 2 MΩ (protection class 2) and 0.25 MΩ (protection class 3)
are marked with an X symbol next to the R
ISO
symbol. In that case, the measured value must be evaluated
by an expert.
