b) Switching the device tester on
• The device tester is switched on and off with the red button (15). To switch the device on or off, press and hold
the button for approx. 1 second. The device will turn on or off with a beep. Always turn the measurement device
off when it is not in use.
• The device conducts a short function test after it is switched on. During the function test, all symbols will appear
on the display. For production reasons, during the function test, some icons may appear in the display but they are
not required by this model type. The measurement display is then displayed.
• If the device is not operated for approx. 1 minute, the GT-6000 switches off automatically (APO, Auto Power Off).
An acoustic signal indicates that the device will shut off automatically.
c) Testing the mains voltage at an external earthed socket
• Connect the mains cable (IEC 60320 C19) to the mains socket (11)
on the GT-6000.
• Connect the safety plug to the earthed socket to be tested. When
the mains voltage is applied, the voltage measurement starts au-
tomatically.
• Depending on the external conductor position “L” (right or left) of the
earthed socket, the voltage potentials between terminals L, N and PE
are displayed for approx. 3 seconds.
• If the voltage potentials are within the following limit values, a tick
symbol appears next to the symbols “LN”, “LE” and “NE”:

NE <30 V
Only the voltage potentials between the individual connections L, N and PE are measured. The measurement
does not provide information about the proper installation of the earthed socket. There is no warning in the
event of a dangerous contact voltage at the PE protective conductor.
The GT-6000 must not be permanently connected to the mains voltage.
• After approx. 3 seconds, the GT-6000 automatically switches to standby mode.
