Testing (Semi-Automatic Toothed Belt Tensioning Roller; Engine Code "AEG")
1. Place camshaft sprocket on cyl. No. 1. TDC.
2.
Press hard with thumb on camshaft drive belt. Indicator -2- must move (use mirror).Turn crankshaft
two rotations in direction of engine direction until engine is again at TDC cyl. 1. When doing this, it is
important that last 45° (1/8 turn) turn is performed without stopping.
3.
NOTE:
If testing vehicle timing belt tension as an inspection, manufacturer
recommends tensioning timing belt with engine warm to the touch. If engine
is hot, allow to cool down.
