4 Operation
Numbering
Each state is numbered sequentially la, lb, lc etc. The next state will be 2a, 2b
etc. This numbering is particularly important for the
Goto
statement.
Goto
N
always means goto Na (Goto 5 means goto 5a etc). Also see the section
Goto
later in this chapter.
Single event and Sequencer modes
Single Event mode
The Sequencer program is initially set to a simple, default type program where
the Sampling mode is set to
STATE
mode (synchronous sampling), the Store
parameter is
ALL
samples, the Trigger position is
START
of trace, and the
trigger is a single event pattern, the one pointed to with the cursor in the Event
Patterns window. This is called "Single Event mode" and is in many cases
sufficient for narrowing down on a specific cycle (event) on the bus.
To change the trigger to another event pattern, simply move the cursor up or
down to the desired line in the Event Patterns window. (If the window is not
entered already, enter the Event Patterns window by 'Edit->Event Patterns', or
type <F6> or 'ANY' until the cursor is in this window.) The sampling mode and
the trigger position can be changed from the ' E d i t ' menu.
Sequencer mode
If a more complex trigger, store qualifier or count/delay is needed, you may
edit the Sequencer program by the ' E d i t / Sequencer ' command. Upon
doing this, a dialog box appears that asks the user to confirm whether he really
wants to enter the sequencer.
As soon as the sequencer window
is entered, the tracer is forced into
the "Sequencer Mode". In this
mode, there is no "interlock" with
the Event Patterns window,
everything is fully controlled
within the Sequencer program.
In order to return to Single Event mode, simply type <DEL> and select the
"Single Event Mode" option.

The EVENT EXPRESSION is one or more EVENT names as defined in the
Event Pattern Window in a combinatorial expression like this:
