Password Structure
SmartDisc offers a number of password levels to protect the device and parts
of the system against unauthorised access.

Transmitter passwords protect access to the transmitter.
■
Archive passwords protect access to the SmartDisc archive.
■
The set-up password protects the transmitter and archive settings and the
log file.
The assignment of passwords is optional. No passwords are assigned in the
factory settings.

words
Access to SmartDisc via SmartTel Receiver software requires that the transmit-
ter password be entered. If an incorrect password is entered three times or
the query is ignored for too long, the connection to the transmitter is auto-
matically terminated. Once the correct password is entered, live images can
be transmitted from all connected cameras.
Archive passwords Up to two passwords must be entered in order to view the images in the ar-
chive. These passwords are also required to access the removable hard disk in
a PC.
Double password Optionally two passwords can be required for transmitter or archive access.
This requires that up to two persons are present to enter the passwords
at the same time before access is granted.
Setup password The set-up password is used to prevent unauthorised changes to the trans-
mitter and archive settings. The log file is also protected so that the error relay
cannot be reset without authorisation.
