The Adjust Process 

The following segments explain the adjust, which is necessary for all valves, and the MNL 

calibration and MNL adjust, which are only needed for F-valves. It is very important for you 

to distinguish the two kinds of adjust. The normal adjust you need for every application. A 

thoroughly performed adjust is the basis for clear and reproducible dispensing results. The 

MNL adjust is only needed if you want to dispense very small drops. Therefore it is only im-

plemented for F-valves, which are specially suited for those kind of applications. The MNL 

adjust has to be preceded by an MNL calibration. 
The description assumes you are controlling the adjust directly via MDC. It is also possible to 

do it remotely via the RS-232C interface. The relevant information for this method can be 

found in chapter 7.1.2. 

5.4.1

 

The Adjust 

The system is unable to perform a regular repeatable process, if the nozzle insert is not 

properly positioned relatively to the tappet prior to dispensing. Therefore you have to per-

form a general adjustment procedure during initial operation and after each exchange of the 

nozzle unit. This is especially important to avoid any leakage during dispensing. An adjust 

with nozzle heater is described in chapter 6.10.3. 
 

CAUTION! (Cleaning before adjust)

 

The system has to be cleaned thoroughly before the adjust. The presence of dirt par-

ticles jammed between the tappet surface and the nozzle insert would compromise 

the results. 
 
You start the adjust by pressing 

[adj]

 on the keypad of the control unit.

Open the MNL screw completely. Turn the screw counter-clockwise. Use either the tool

IMPORTANT NOTE! (Open and closed marked) 

The completely open and closed positions of the MNL screw are marked by a slightly higher 

resistance. This step is only necessary for F-valves, since other valves do not have an MNL
