Chapter 2 — Overview and Operation
91
MODE SELECT (6)
Audio Fade Time
Audio Fade Time specified in terms of video frames. The maximum fade time is
255 frames (8.5 seconds NTSC or 10.2 frames PAL). However, the audio fade
hardware limits the audio fade to a maximum of 5.46 seconds (164 NTSC frames
and 136 PAL frames). An Audio Fade Time of 0 performs an immediate Audio
switch instead of an audio fade.
MODE SELECT (6)
(OpCode 0x15, 6 bytes)
SCSI refers to a device’s operational parameters as its mode parameters. SCSI
groups the mode parameters by function into a set of data structures referred to as
mode pages. The
MODE
SELECT
commands allow the initiator to modify some of
these mode pages.
A companion SCSI command,
MODE
SENSE
(1Ah), allows the initiator to read
these mode pages.
The Vela CineCast Quad Pro decoder maintains four mode pages.
The Save Page (SP) option in the Command Descriptor Block makes changes
permanent. New mode parameters are stored in non-volatile memory in the
decoder. (Save Page is not currently supported.)
PF (Page Format)
Ignored by decoder. The decoder always interprets mode data in accordance with
the SCSI-2 standard.
SP (Save Pages)
When SP = 0, the decoder performs the specified
MODE
SELECT
operation, but does
not store it to non-volatile memory. When SP = 1, changes also become permanent
(saved in non-volatile memory). (Save Page is not currently supported.)
