1.10 CALIBRATING THE TACHOGRAPH

– A roller test stand can be used to calibrate the tachograph

(for example, after changing the type of tyres used on the
vehicle).

– If the vehicle is equipped with ASR, this system will inter-

pret the rotating rear wheels and the stationary front
wheels as the rear wheels spinning. Since a reduction in
acceleration is not applicable in this instance, the system
will try to neutralize this spinning by braking the rear
wheels. The result is that the vehicle will be thrown from the
roller test stand. This is dangerous.
To prevent this from happening, the fuses for the EBS sys-
tem must be removed, so that the EBS system is deacti-
vated. However, this will be seen as an error by the system
and will be registered in the memory. These errors must be
reset with the aid of the diagnosis equipment after the cal-
ibration.
