Configuration of the Switching
Output
In addition to manual operation of the outputs, configuring of the
switching output on this dialog page also includes the assignment
of individual names and the switching response. The configuration
is stored in the non-volatile memory.
The button on the left-hand side shows the current state of the out-
put. This is displayed in parallel with the information given in the
main window of
NCTerminal
. The name to the right of the button is
user configurable and can be entered directly in the window.
The outputs can be switched by clicking on the buttons. It is impor-
tant to remember that the status of the outputs is not stored. When
the device is switched on all outputs are in the idle state.
Individual switching responses are configured in the lower half of
the configuration dialog box. In addition to the idle state definition -
relay contacts open or closed - it is also possible to set a bistable or
monostable switching response.
Bistable means that the output has two stable states, open and
closed, i.e. remains switched “forever”, unless the status changes
because of a new switching operation.
In monostable operation, idle state is resumed after a settable.
time. The operator does not therefore have to remember to switch
off. Examples of the advantages of monostable output are switch-
ing on lighting (automatic staircase lighting, e.g. 2 minutes) or oper-
ation of a door opener (e.g. 3 seconds).
