3.2 Start-up with the BLxx-2RFID-A and BLcompact RFID electronic modules
The following information contains a start-up example for the BLxx-2RFID-A and BLcompact electronic
modules. These RFID electronic modules are suitable for multiple-access (bulk reading). Start-up is
carried out with the PIB (Proxy Ident Block) function block. The PIB is available for the programmable
gateways and for Siemens PLCs, and is the same for HF and UHF.
3.2.1 Firmware versions
The current firmware version of gateway, RFID electronic modules and read/write heads must at least
comply with the following minimum versions:

The following programmable gateways are suitable for start-up with the PIB using CoDeSys:

Refer to the relevant manuals for a detailed description of the start-up (see 2.1 “Support for
BL ident® projects” page 2-1 ).

The maximum number of modules depends on the controller and with BLxx-2RFID-A on the
data volume to be transferred. However, a maximum of only four RFID electronic modules
can be fitted per gateway.

A firmware update of the RFID electronic modules is only possible via the TURCK customer
