2.7 General information on the RFID electronic modules
A so-called BL ident® Simple module (BL20-2RFID-S, BL67-2RFID-S, BLcompact) can be used for the
integration in the controller and fieldbus environment. This implements a simple data exchange in a
12 byte I/O process image (8 bytes user data) without having to use a standard function block (PIB).
The programming required is easier and the user can link BL ident® to all controllers for which TURCK
has an approved fieldbus gateway (see data sheet for the BLxx-2RDFID-S module, BLcompact) at
www.turck.com).
The standard function block (PIB) is also available for the BL20-2RFID-A and BL67-2RFID-A and
BLcompact RFID electronic modules. The PIB is available for use with the programmable gateways in
conjunction with the CoDeSys programming software and for the Siemens S7-300 and S7-400 PLCs
with PROFIBUS-DP and PROFINET IO (see data sheet for the BLxx-2RDFID-A module, BLcompact) at
www.turck.com).
The BL compact device series offer compact IP67 components that enable the simple and space saving
integration of RFID in your application.
2.7.1 Connecting the RFID electronic modules
Refer to the relevant start-up manuals for the pin configuration (see 2.1 “Support for BL ident® projects”
page 2-1 ).
2.7.2 LED functions of the RFID electronic modules
Refer to the relevant start-up manuals for the LED functions of the RFID electronic modules (see 2.1
“Support for BL ident® projects” page 2-1 ).
Note
To service the RFID electronic modules, notify the TURCK customer service and give the nine
digit product code. This is provided on the type label on the module
(such as WKUYDR /C 54MH).
Note
The current carrying capacity of the gateways, i.e. the maximum number of RFID electronic
modules that can be connected, depends on the radio transmission power output of the
read/write heads.
When using higher transmission power outputs, a power feed module should be fitted at
least after two RFID modules.
Note
Although chapter 3 does not provide an in depth description of start-up with BLcompact, it
must be carried out in the same way as the start-up with BL67-2RFID-S and BL67-2RFID-A-
RFID electronic modules.
