Using other driving systems
WHEN DRIVING
The distance between three-dimensional
objects (such as another vehicle) and
flat surfaces (such as the road) appears
different on the screen as follows.
In reality, A and C are the same distance
from the vehicle, while B is farther away.
However, on the screen, the situation
appears to be A is closer than B which
appears closer than C. On the screen,
it appears that a truck is parked
approximately 1 m away.
In reality if you back up to point A, you will
hit the truck.
Rear view monitor system camera
The rear view monitor system camera is
located on the boot lid as shown in the
illustration.
In the following cases, it may become
difficult to see the images on the screen,
even when the system is functioning.
• In the dark, such as at night.
• When the temperature near the lens is
high or low.
• When water droplets are adhering to
the camera, or when humidity is high,
such as when it rains.
• When foreign matter, such as snow or mud is adhering to the camera.
• When the sun or the beam of headlights is shining directly into the camera lens.
• When the camera has scratches or dirt on it.
• When the camera is used under fluorescent lights, sodium lights, mercury lights, etc.,
the lights and the illuminated areas may appear to flicker.
