Chapter 3 System Construction

3.6 Startup Procedure

There are the following two modes for I/O module input/output operations:

(1) FL654A recognizes the I/O module composition when the power supply is turned on, and

FL654A executes the input/output operation by this module composition. (AUTO)

(2) After confirming the I/O module composition when the power supply is turned on, the user

saves the I/O module composition in non-volatile memory in FL654A. FL654A executes the

input/output operation according to the saved I/O module composition. (CONF/LOCK)

In the mode in (1), if any I/O module is defective at power-ON, I/O module configuration information

is created excluding such I/O module. Thus there is a possibility of disagreement in correspondence

between the common memory and the slots into which I/O modules have been installed. It is

recommended that I/O module input/output be performed on the basis of the information saved in

the non-volatile memory, i.e., in the mode in (2).

3.6.1 CONF/LOCK Designation Startup

Begin

(i) Install the power, expansion, FL654A, and I/O
modules in the base unit. When the expansion unit
is used, connect an expansion cable.

(v) Connect the communication cable.

(vi) Turn ON the power.

Start up

After that, I/O module input/output is
automatically performed based on the saved
I/O information when power is turned ON in
this condition.

FL654A switch settings in step (i)

Node address: Depends on the system.

Talker block head and listener block head:

Depends on the system.

・

RUN/HALT switch: HALT

・

Operation setting switch:

Ethernet setting:

Set according to the system.
Generally, auto-negotiation is set.

I/O composition setting: CONF
I/O status setting in down mode:

Depends on the system.

(ii) Turn ON the power (the FL654A automatically
recognizes the connected I/O modules).

(iii) Connect a PC to the TOOL connection port
and check I/O module connections using terminal
software.

(iv) After checking I/O module connections, once
turn OFF the power and return the FL654A switch
settings to ordinary usage condition.

see Chapter 5.
