6.3.3 Charging the batteries through hydrogeneration during the
trip
ADVICE
Torqeedo recommends that hydrogeneration is used only when the charge level
is less than 95 %.
ADVICE
Hydrogeneration is only possible with the Power 48-5000. Hydrogeneration is
not possible with AGM/gel/lead batteries.
ADVICE
If the speed remains below four knots for more than 30 seconds,
hydrogeneration is automatically switched off. Equally, hydrogeneration
is switched off at a speed exceeding 16 knots. The
Charging
symbol (or
similar) disappears from the accelerator lever display. If you want to continue
hydrogenerating, you must restart hydrogeneration. The system switches
automatically to Stop mode (
Charging
is no longer displayed) as soon as a
Power 48-5000 has reached 98 % SOC.

Starting hydrogeneration:

The speed must be at least four knots.

The main switch must be switched on.
1. Apply the magnetic pin.
2. Switch the system on.
3. Check the GPS signal.
4. Set the accelerator lever to between 1 and 30 %.
When hydrogenation is taking place,
Charging
is displayed.
