4.2.4. Adjusting the Reference Light Intensity and Amplification
If required, the reference light intensity can be modified with the reference intenstity controller in the “Device
Settings” tab. Especially when analyzing highly reflective samples, attenuation of the reference light may be
necessary. In the unlikely case that no reference light is needed (e.g.: examination of auto-correlated signals in
the sample path), the reference light can be blocked completely.
Moreover, the amplification level for the OCT signal can be modified as well. Depending on the characteristics
of the sample under test, the amplification level and the reference light intensity should be adjusted in a way
that the image is optimal. There are 7 amplification levels available, each level providing an additional
amplification of roughly 6 dB.
