Malfunction
Possible Cause
Remedy
Noisy
Blocked reference
junction
Make sure electrolyte bottle is flowing
properly. Check that bottle has been vented.
Refer to
Chapter II
Sodium electrode failure Check electrode cable connection and
location of wiring to terminal strip. Refer to
Chapter II
Temperature probe
Disconnect ATC. Display should read default
25 ˚C (E101). Replace if necessary
Air pump failure
Monitor airflow for steady stream of bubbles.
Replace if necessary
Faulty electrode cables
Replace electrode cables
Calibration standard
carryover
Disconnect air pump intake tube. Rinse flow
cell and electrodes with de-ionized water by
lifting flow cell cap. Reconnect air pump
Excessive Drift
Sample concentration
varying
Perform span check. If span check passes,
monitor is okay. Refer to
Chapter IV
Blocked reference
junction
Make sure electrolyte bottle is vented. Check
tubing to electrode for obstruction. Refer to
Chapter II
Reference electrode
Missing or not using correct filling solution
(Cat. No. 150072)
Sodium electrode
response
Etch sodium electrode
Install new sodium electrode. Refer to
Chapter II
Temperature probe
Disconnect ATC. Display should read default
25 ˚C (E101). Replace if necessary
Burst diffusion tubing
Observe liquid level in reagent bottle. If
liquid level rises, replace reagent and
diffusion tubing. Tubing connector may need
replacement. Refer to
Chapter II
Low Flow Rate
Sample pressure below
8 psi
Check sample pressure. If less than
8 psi, increase. Refer to
Chapter II
Pressure regulator set
too low
Increase pressure by pulling on red locking
ring and turning black knob clockwise. Refer
to
Chapter II
Inlet filter clogged
Replace or clean filter
Restrictor tubing
crimped or clogged
Replace restrictor tubing. Refer to
Chapter II
