Safe operation must be presumed to be no longer possible, if
- the device exhibits visible damage,
- the device does not operate any longer and
- the device was stored under unfavorable conditions for a long period of time or
- the device was exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport.
• Do not disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket by pulling the cable! Always
disconnect the plug from the mains socket by taking it at the lateral gripping areas.
Otherwise, the mains cable might get damaged. Danger of electric shock!
• The ATX mains unit must not be opened. There are no parts inside the ATX mains unit
which require maintenance by you.
• If the ATX mains unit (or the computer into which it is installed) is not used for a longer
period of time (e.g. in case of storage), switchit off via the mains switch and additionally
disconnect the mains plug of the mains cable from the mains socket.
• If you switch off the computer only via the Power key at the front of the computer
housing, the computer or the mains unit are in “standby” mode (similar to a TV set).
Therefore, before any modification of the computer (e.g. when installing a new plug-
in board) the computer has to be separated from the mains voltage. Switch off the ATX
mains unit via the mains switch and separate it from the mains voltage. Unplug the
mains plug.
• In “standby” mode, the ATX mains unit shows a (low) power consumption. Therefore,
slight warming is normal.
Thus, you might consume several kWh in “standby” mode per month. Depending on
the prices for electric current, this might correspond to 1 to 2 Euros per month that can
be saved easily. Simply switch off the ATX mains unit via the mains switch, if you do
not need the computer.
