1—USPIIe-USB Installation
Attaching Cables and Accessing USPIIe-USB Peripheral Devices
1-11
Themis Computer
After attaching the USPII
e
-USB to a network, you can verify proper physical con-
nection by executing the OBP network selftest (
test
net
). This test will indicate
external loopback failure on each of the network interfaces when there is not a
proper physical connection.
1.4.7
SCSI A and B
Themis provides adapter cables for SCSI A or B with conversion to standard 68-pin,
0.050 inch, male SCSI connectors. Attach cable P/N-108712 to the desired SCSI
connection (SCSI A or SCSI B) on the Front Panel mini-din 68 labelled either
SCSI A
or
SCSI B
. Additionally, you can attach cable P/N-108432 to the SCSI con-
nector of the standard Paddle Board (SCSI A only). It is possible to use both Front
Panel and Paddle Board SCSI A connections simultaneously (see
Figure 1-2
on
page 1-6).
You can verify proper physical connection by executing the OpenBoot command
probe-scsi
(for SCSI A) or
probe-scsi-all
(for SCSI A and B). This com-
mand transmits an inquiry command to SCSI devices connected to the system unit
onboard SCSI interface. If the SCSI device is connected and active, the target
address, unit number, device type, and manufacturer name is displayed.
The example below identifies the
probe-scsi
output message:

USB-0 and USB-1
USB ports 0 and 1 are located together on the Front Panel of the USPII
e
-USB (see
Appendix C, “Front Panel Diagrams”). Pin signal descriptions are given in
Table A-5
on page A-8 (Appendix A, ”Connector Pinouts, LEDs, Switches”).
