Now you only need a cross-head screwdriver.
Follow these instructions step by step:
1. Switch the computer off, and switch off all connected peripheral equipment such as printers.
Leave the power cable connected so that your computer is still grounded.
2. Touch the metal frame on the rear of the system in order to ground yourself and discharge
any static electricity. Now unplug the power cable.
3. Remove the cover from your computer.
4. Find a free 16-bit expansion slot as far away as possible from other cards such as VGA or
video cards, loosen the screw on the slot cover and remove the cover.
5. Carefully remove the soundcard from its antistatic jacket, and only handle the soundcard at
its edges. Do not touch the components or the rear of the card.
6. If you wish to connect an external Wavetable module, refer to the section „Connecting a
Wavetable“.
7. If you wish to connect a CD-ROM drive, please first read the section „Connecting a CD-ROM
drive“.
8. Adjust the rear bracket of the soundcard on the expansion slot so that the connecting strip
of the card is located precisely above the base of the slot.
9. Carefully insert the card into the slot. You may have to apply a certain amount of pressure
in order to ensure a perfect fit. Always ensure that the contacts are alligned precisely in
order to avoid any damage to the motherboard of your computer.
10. Secure the soundcard with the screw of the slot cover.
11. Now replace the cover of the computer.
12. Connect the speakers or your stereo system to the soundcard. Please also refer to the
section „Connecting external equipment“.
13. Start your computer when you have made sure that your stereo system or your active
speakers are still switched off, and install the software. Please read the following section
„Software installation“.
